“It’s not about deserve. It’s about what you believe, and I believe in Love.” – Wonder Woman (2017)
“Power. Grace. Wisdom. Wonder.” The prophetic tagline for the newly-released Wonder Woman empowers, emboldens and enriches. The daughters of God are being trained and prepared to rise up and conquer the enemies of the land – the evil forces threatening to steal, kill, and destroy our soul. If we belong to Jesus, we know that Love defeats hate, but our spiritual weapons of warfare must be used in order to keep vigilant and to protect our destiny. For this reason, as Christians, we are also called to wear the full armor of God and to activate our faith.
In the film, Wonder Woman, Princess Diana of Themiscyra leaves behind her utopian island home and marches towards the darkness to defeat the evil with her greatest weapons, faith in humanity and love. Even though those virtues were threatened by evil himself, she chose to continue fighting for love and ultimately prevailed. By leaving her comfort zone, she unleashed the power within and became victorious. As believers, the Bible has left us a blueprint for our defenses against the true enemy of our souls, Satan.
Ephesians 6:12-18 details the full armor of God: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the BELT OF TRUTH buckled around your waist, with the BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the GOSPEL OF PEACE. In addition to all this, take up the SHIELD OF FAITH, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the HELMET OF SALVATION and the SWORD OF THE SPIRIT, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times, with every kind of prayer and petition. To this end, stay alert with all perseverance in your prayers for all the saints.”
Wear the whole armor of God and use your spiritual weapons of warfare with power, grace, wisdom, and wonder! It’s one thing to know about the inventory of spiritual weapons available for every believer, but it’s an another thing to apply it, since "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds" (2 Corinthians 10:4). Our focus should be against fighting the powers of darkness by training and preparing to war against evil. You can only fight spiritual battles with spiritual God-made weapons. Let’s unite together to fight the enemy who is after our soul, mind, and joy. Let’s stop fighting each other, there is something bigger going on that is unseen. Matthew 10:28 confirms, “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”
We must show the world what a true woman of God looks like and that is a warrior clothed and adorned in both beauty and strength, honor and dignity. We are called to walk in a spirit of holiness unto the Lord as we represent the Truth to all the world.
As women of God, let's reach towards the high calling of being a W.O.W.: Women of Wonder, Women of Wisdom, Women of Worship, and Women of Worth. When people look at us, they will be in awe and wonder, because we will behold the most awesome and wonderful One, Jesus. We will carry His presence and set the captives free. We will carry His light and see the oppressed now impressed by the truly marvelous One. We will walk in His love and all hate will dissipate.
The Bible is rich with stories of women who would be worthy of being called a W.O.W., not merely for their courage, strength, and inner beauty, but because of their love, fearlessness, and devotion to the Lord.
Mary Magdalene was in wonder as she lavished her perfume over Jesus’ feet as an act of love.
Queen Esther was full of wisdom as she prayerfully approached King Xerxes even when not called.
Mary, the mother of Jesus, was full of worship as she said, ‘Yes’ to the call of God to carry Jesus.
Ruth was rich in worth as her heart of service and devotion got her noticed by Boaz.
These wonder women of the Bible weren't a sign and a wonder in the physical, they were wonderful in the spiritual. All of their visible circumstances were broken. Ruth was widowed. Esther was orphaned. Mary Magdalene was broken relationally. But in their faith, supercharged by the Holy Spirit, their lives and ordinary circumstance made their life a sign and a wonder.
Though these women were admired for their power, their courage, their boldness – they were ultimately honored for their sheer love for the Lord. They didn't set out to become wonder woman, they set out to become women of wonder. They didn't seek to have the attention on them or to be in the spotlight, they simply arose to their full identity as women of God and the Lord elevated them to eternal, lasting value. Instead of seeking to gain the attention, they sought to lavish the attention on Who mattered in the bigger picture of it all. They lived for eternity, not for the fleeting temporal pleasures of this world.
Signs and wonders were taking place when Jesus walked the earth, “Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles” (Acts 2:43); and signs and wonders will continue increasing as the day for Jesus’ return becomes more imminent. Ask God for faith to believe for signs, wonders and miracles in the here and now.
You are called to be empowered by the wonder of God
Be powerful and graceful, wise and wonderful, but most importantly be a woman who loves the Lord with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength. Be a woman full of femininity and full of strength. Your femininity does not disqualify your strength, it actually means you embrace your unique strength as a woman. A godly wonder woman knows that her power and strength does not come from herself but from God.
Build up wonder and fascination in your heart for Jesus. Know that He is a God of wonder who can do anything anywhere outside and in anyone’s life. Women of wonder don't put their confidence in their own strength, rather they are fully expectant for God’s unmatched power to work through them.
On our own, we are just natural human beings, but we serve a super God, and He puts the super to our natural. Together we can do the supernatural! The Holy Spirit working in and through me is my superpower and with Him I can do all things! How do you become powerful? By wearing your armor of Jesus' salvation. Graceful? Through daily worship. Wise? Reading the Word of God. Wonderful? Sitting at the feet of Jesus.
Isaiah 59:16-17 says, “The Lord looked and was displeased that there was no justice. He saw that there was no one, he was appalled that there was no one to intervene; so his own arm achieved salvation for him, and his own righteousness sustained him. He put on righteousness as his breastplate, and the helmet of salvation on his head; he put on the garments of vengeance and wrapped himself in zeal as in a cloak.” When the Lord looks throughout the earth, will he find you ready to fight for justice? Will He find you ready to intervene and be a voice for the voiceless?
Women of God, may your hearts be filled with the wonder of knowing Jesus and who you are in Him. Jesus is our greatest Advocate and he wants to use us females, His daughters, as much as He wants to use males, His sons, to carry out His mission and purposes.
You are GOD'S Wonder Woman!
We're called to be women full of wonder at the most wonderful One. When we look to Him, we become our best Her. When we are full of Him, we are our fullest Her. Him and her together are the power force as God wants you to be on a mission, a co-mission, the two of you together as you become a hero in His Kingdom.
Even the word, hero has her in it. Let’s put the her in HERo! He puts the He in Hero and She puts the Her in Hero. There's both He and Her in Hero. God and His daughters come together to become the heroes in bringing Jesus' love to the world. You are fearfully and wonderfully made for a divine destiny. Our prayer for the women is that as they know God more, that the very reason and purpose for which they were created will be fully revealed.
As you seek His face and His light, He will make His ways known to you. You are a princess warrior called to be both bold and beautiful, brave and graceful. We speak life, courage, strength, and love to shine forth from your life. Be captivated by the secrets and revelations of God's heart. And, as He fills you with more wonder, more worship, more wisdom, and more worth, may you be a woman fully and wholly known for loving Jesus wonderfully!
"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." – Psalm 139:14
